Feel the RRace, feel the RRoad

Developed to win road races, the RACETEC™ RR delivers maximum performance.

Grip in All Conditions
Road racing courses feature multiple and variable conditions, and the compound specifications of the RACETEC™ RR have been tailored to handle all of them. The compound blends a selection of polymers and resins with various grades of carbon black to maximize hysteresis, even on slippery surfaces. The RACETEC™ RR front tyre conforms to the micro-granularity of asphalt, providing enhanced grip and wear resistance, ensuring durability even on harsh surfaces. This polymer blend also offers high flexibility at lower temperatures. Thanks to the RACETEC™ RR's distinctive versatility across a wide range of asphalt types and temperatures, the choice of front tyre compound should primarily reflect the rider’s preference for either increased stability and precision when entering corners (K2 version) or predictability and enhanced “edge grip” feeling (K1 version).

For the rear tyre, the version choice depends on the asphalt friction coefficient (high severity/friction or low severity/friction, depending on the circuit or road race) and the asphalt temperature (with a threshold around 25°/30°C). The dual-compound cap and base scheme of the RACETEC™ RR rear tyres features a highly conductive center strip that supports the shoulder compound from beneath and warms it during long straights, redistributing heat generated to maintain optimal operating temperatures and ensuring grip when leaning into corners.

Precision and Stability at High Speed
The RACETEC™ RR employs a composite structure, differentiated between the crown and the sides of the carcass to respond appropriately to various conditions. Stability is crucial in road racing, especially on long straights at full speed (due to aerodynamic interference) and when the bike encounters drain covers, repair patches, or jumps. In these scenarios, stability may be temporarily compromised during the rebound after the bike lifts and drops back onto the asphalt, compressing both tyres and shock absorbers. The crown structure is crafted from a special rayon fiber, characterized by high linear density and stiffness, allowing it to maintain its shape under significant stress and load. This fiber further helps dampen rebound by distributing shocks throughout the carcass, while also mitigating rebound during the return to its original shape. The side structure is designed to be rigid, with a low deformation ratio, ensuring the entire architecture is stable under stress and maintaining trajectory precision during long, fast rides and at maximum lean angles.

Duration and Performance Consistency
Road racing sessions can last up to 240 km (150 miles), which is more than three times longer than the average track race. Thus, durability, integrity, and performance consistency are key to winning. All compounds in the RACETEC™ RR range are engineered for high abrasion resistance, thanks to the homogeneous dispersion of components in the polymer matrix achieved through our exclusive and patented continuous mixing process. The tread groove layout minimizes wear and disrupts the forces that cause compound deformation, known as Schallamach's wear waves. The innovative angle of the RACETEC™ RR grooves results from advanced analyses conducted in the context of road racing activities.
